Resin Bonded Driveway in Streatham
David and Justine have a lovely double-fronted detached house in Streatham, but it was let down by their old driveway which was unsuitable for their two cars. They also had a front garden with decaying brickwork that they did nothing with. They wanted a simple and effective solution to improve the look and utility of their driveway and front step.
Needing a comprehensive make-over of their front driveway, David and Justine gave us a call. They were concerned that only so much could be done to improve the situation but Joseph assured them that we were more than up to the task, and would even be able to deal with the awkwardly shaped areas surrounding the shed.
The previous driveway was small and a tight squeeze for both cars, so they wanted the old front lawn and brick wall removed so as to greatly widen the space they had to work with. From that point it was possible to have two points of access with ample room for both their vehicles whilst still retaining the border trellis and vegetation. Once the turf and brick had been removed we set about creating a flat foundation and laying down hardcore and a recessed drain cover which would blend tidily with the finished driveway.
We laid down extensive brick bordering, with an elegant strip to highlight the retained lawn at the far corner, and including around the front step which was previously covered with dated terracotta tiles. After tarmacking the now level driveway we applied permeable resin bonded gravel, the colour of which had been chosen by David and Justine from Vuba’s extensive selection, and which suited the character of their property perfectly.
David and Justine are thrilled with the results, not only is the new resin bonded gravel driveway easy to maintain, but the access has been vastly improved and it looks fantastic.
