Block Driveway, Wallington

Our client lives in Wallington, in the London Borough of Sutton. Their front garden and driveway were a mix of different materials and difficult to manage, so they called us to discuss a smart block driveway.

The original space at the front of the house was a mix of different surfaces that had been in place for some time. There was a narrow old block paved driveway with a manhole cover, a tiny edging strip of turf and a crazy paved path to the front door, plus a small area of lawn and mature shrubs. During our consultation visit, our client explained that they wanted to increase the size of the driveway for more than just one vehicle, plus make the whole area look more uniform and be easier to keep looking good. We recommended a block driveway with a small area retained for plants.

Once we agreed on a red and black design with a herringbone paving pattern, we set to work. Our first job was to remove the existing block driveway, turf, path, and large shrubs. We then levelled the whole site and lay the hardcore and sub base, including the necessary drainage elements. We laid the new block driveway and edging stones, ensuring the manhole cover blended with the rest of the driveway.

Our clients are delighted with the look of their new block driveway and how it has opened up the driveway to the road and has made the whole space look much bigger.
