Victor Seymour Infant School is an Ofsted-rated outstanding school in Carshalton, Surrey. They contacted us to install a new artificial grass playing field.

The school teaches children from nursery age up to year 2 of primary education, this means the outside space is an essential part of the education experience provided. Victor Seymour has a large outside area with many activities for the different age groups. The playing field area was laid with older artificial grass that had seen better days. We suggested replacing it with new artificial grass that more closely resembled real grass in look and feel and would be gentler on small children’s hands and knees.

We agreed a date out of usual school hours so not to impact the learning of the children and set to work. We removed the old grass and dug out the entire area so we could prepare it properly. We then added and compacted hardcore before laying a membrane that would deter weeds and allow for good drainage in wet weather. Then we lay sand over the membrane before laying and sealing the new artificial grass.

The staff and pupils at Victor Seymour are delighted with their new artificial grass playing field – it looks much nicer than the old one and feels great underfoot.
