Permeable Resin Gravel Driveway Coulsdon

Helen lives in a lovely detatched chalet-style house in Coulsdon. The long, gravel front drive had overgrown so much it had almost almost returned to nature. On top of that, the surface was uneven, and formed muddy puddles whenever it rained, which took a long time to drain.

So she called us in to discuss what could be done. During the free consultation, Joseph showed her various samples and explained the pros and cons of each type of driveway surfaces. Having considered some options – including gravel, tarmac and block paving – Helen chose to go with a resin bound gravel driveway covering the area from the front gates to the double garage, leaving the rest of the front garden to lawn.

During the excavation we discovered the original manhole cover buried below the surface, so we installed a new recessed one which would be filled with resin gravel to give a seamless look whilst remaining accessible.

To ensure maximum stability and permeability, we dug down 300mm, then laid a hardcore sub base, compacting it down fully, before applying a tarmac mid layer, and finally laying the Harvest Gold resin bound gravel top surface.
